Series of Fortunate Events Part 2: The Port Harcourt Grill and Read Book Party.

The second event was the Grill and Read Book party which held on the 29th of August 2016 at Tontex Garden situated at Elekahia Junction Opp the Liberation Stadium Port Harcourt. i am sure most of you think Books are for geeks lol well no!!! This was one of my favorite events because i’m a huge fan of books. It featured book conversations, spoken word and grill (Ph Famous Bole and Fish#bigsmile)
. It was completely a relaxed event and everybody talked and discussed on our favorite books, i met some Nigerian authors like Miss Merit Gogo Fineface ,Mr Franklin Finecountry and poets like Mr Onesi Taiwo.Generally it was basically a fun networking event.

Series of Fortunate Events Part 1 : Port Harcourt International Food Festival 2016..#phiff

Hi everybody!!! I know i have been MIA for awhile now but i promise I am working on it (smiles). So i just wanted to share with you all the three wonderful events i have been to in the last quarter of the year. First is the Port Harcourt International food festival which held on the 15th & 16th of October 2016.

This was a mix of Food and Entertainment which was incredibly awesome. It featured food appearances from Kode9 burger@kode9ph (Fave!!! Smiles), Bole King @bolekingng, Fifi’s food house @fifisfoodhouse, LA Kings, Salad Masters, Mudase Indomie and many more ventors..
There were talks on how to boost the economy with  agricultural produce,how to prepare garri from cassava and lots more.So basically you get to taste different foods from different vendors but personally,i had to stick with a burger which was rather overwhelming lol..
 The Vendors all expressed their gratitude to the organizers for helping them boost sales and create awareness for their goods and services.
Generally,i will say it was a successful event but we can do better,Port Harcourt residents need to be open to such events because it was also educative.

Most people especially the male folks have that wrong perception of a "high class chic", i don't mean it in any derogatory form whatsoever, by high class i mean, 'the independent lady", "fierce chic", "career woman", "boss lady"so i'll be using these terms in this post.

Most ladies are obsessed with getting that fuller thicker lips similar to that of  Kyle Jenner and Angelina Jolie. As we all know,fuller lips helps you achieve that perfect yet sexy pout.
Lets get to how we can create fuller lips using makeup. Don't be scared you do not need to break a bank for this.

STEP 1: Gather your materials.
  You will need a lipliner, a lipstick that is the same color as the lipliner but a shade lighter,a lip gloss,a highlighter and a lip exfoliator (a toothbrush will do).
For a more natural look,use two nude shades of lipliner and lipstick, for a dramatic look,use vibrant reds or pinks.Dramatic colors will make your lips fuller and more prominent.Matte lipsticks are easier to work with.

STEP 2: Exfoliate your lips.
   Using a soft-bristled toothbrush,spend approximately 20 seconds gently massaging the dead skin off your lips,this will cause your lips to swell a bit.You can also exfoliate your lips with sugar.Please take NOTE exfoliating the lips should not be done frequently to avoid dryness.

STEP 3: Apply a moisturizing lip balm
  Any balm will do,just be sure it is not too heavy,allow it to sit for a couple of minutes.

STEP 4: Line your lips with the darker colored lip pencil
   Lining your lips is a great way to make your lips look larger.To keep it looking natural,line the outer edges of your lips.Do not go too far outside the natural lines of your lips otherwise you may look like a clown.lol

STEP 5: Fill in your lips.
   Use the darker pencil to fill in the corners of your lips,and the lighter shade of lipstick to fill in the middle part of your upper and lower lips.Experiment with different ways of lining your lips to see what you like best!

STEP 6: Blend the light and dark colors together
 You do not want an unattractive border around your lips.Blend everything together so that it looks more natural.You can do this with a cotton swab or a lip brush.

STEP 7: Apply a lipgloss over your entire lips
  You can use a clear gloss or a gloss in the same color range of the color you've put on your lips.

STEP 8: Apply a small amount of highlighter on the middle of your upper and lower lips
  Using a fan brush or your finger,dab the highlighting powder on to the middle of your upper and lower lips. A shimmery eye shadow will also work as a highlighter but be careful of the shade though,gold preferably.Nicely blend the highlighter on to your lips so they look more natural and sexy.

Weekends are precious,you've probably worked all week with one target in mind____getting to the weekend and doing something useful with it, Yet often when you actually reach the weekend,it tends to fizzle out and not quite live up to your expectations.
The following tips will help you make the most of your weekends,so that by the time Monday comes you will feel refreshed.

  • Make Plans: During the week you should have an idea on what you want to do for the weekend,if you don't have plans,you will very often end up doing nothing.Personally i already know how my weekend will turn out because i had it planned on Thursday, i'm going to be going for a friends wedding on Saturday and i'll spend Sunday chilling with a good friend of mine so you see!!!
  • Meet up with friends: When i say friends i'm talking of people you can actually have a healthy conversation with,crack silly jokes and at the end of the day you guys leave feeling fulfilled.You get the picture right???
  • Allot some 'you'time: Filling your time with all sorts of activities can be great fun but will also be tiring,try setting out time for yourself,you can read a book,listen to cool music or visit nature!When last did you just sit in a garden listening to the birds chirp?Try it and thank me later#winks
  • Avoid Routine: Our lives can get in a rut and we do the same old things week in week out,jolt yourself into a whole new weekend frame of mind by trying something different.Will you believe it if i tell you some people have never been to the cinema?GEEZ!!if you're one of them please loosen up a bit..
  • Find a New Muse: Finding a new muse can help make you fulfill. Note,you're new muse should be something you enjoy doing by yourself,it could be the time out that you need in your weekend. for example,i used to know how to sew until i became lazy that i started loosing touch so i decided to enroll in a sewing institute so that the passion wont fizzle out,so that's my new muse and i intend keeping it for a long long time.

9 Ways to Improve Your Health at Work!!!

Eight(8) hours in a chair in front of a computer five(5) days a week can take a toll on your body,below are some ways we can improve our health at work:
  1. Diet: Most of us are guilty of grabbing a snack during work hours especially when there is little or no time for lunch break,Snacks contain  cholesterol which is bad for our heart,and having worked 8hrs its almost impossible to burn this cholesterol through exercise so instead of indulging in snacks,try indulging in a bowl of fruit or vegetable salad or better still pack a healthy lunch at home before dashing off to work.
  2. Water:  Consuming at least 8-10 glasses of water everyday will keep you hydrated throughout the day.The 3'0 clock lull that many people feel at work can be due to dehydration. TIP; Bring a 16ounce bottle of water to work and try to finish it by lunch,then fill it up again and finish that by 3pm,by 5pm finish a 3rd bottle.
  3. Exercise: Walking during lunch break is a great idea,not only are you burning calories but you are de stressing and refreshing.Make it a habit to take the stairs rather than the elevator.
  4. Tension Neck Syndrome(TNS): This occurs when the neck and upper shoulders are held in a fixed awkward position for a long period of time according to National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. TNS causes neck and shoulder pain,muscle tightness and tenderness.This usually occurs in people in the telecommunication world and secretaries who type for long.People who talk on the phone for long are advised to use a speaker phone,a shoulder cradle or a headset.
  5. Eye Strain: Eye strain is another problem encountered in front of a computer,it can cause headaches,difficulty focusing and increased sensitivity to light.To prevent eye strain,the distance to the screen from your eyes should be about an arms length away.If you cannot read your screen without squinting,simply increase the font size of your computer.
  6. Vacation: Vacations help reduce stress and get your mind at work especially if you are having a conflict such as problem with your boss,co-worker or a project.Stress can impair your immune system increasing the risk of illness,vacations are ways of minimizing stress.
  7. Avoid Long Stretches of Long Days: Occasionally, people focus on the task at hand and getting a project done and they are not aware of the impact its having on their health until it begins to affect their relationship and moods."Burnout" is another type of stress that can impair a persons immune system as well as interfere with sleep and his/her ability to concentrate.
  8. Cleanliness: Your keyboards,mouse and phone can harbor thousands of germs that are just waiting to make you sick.Viruses can survive for hours to days on a hard surface.If a virus such as "rotavirus"were on the surface of a telephone receiver,infectious doses could easily be transfered to persons using the telephone so get your disinfectant out.
  9.  Self Awareness: The most important way to stay healthy at work starts with self awareness says Jonathan Kramer a clinical psychologist,Know yourself and know your limits and do the best you can to stay within those limits given your job.Know when to take breaks and vacation,get plenty of exercise which helps you both physically and mentally at home and at work.

Hey guys,
    Hope you all are enjoying the weekend just as I'm enjoying mine,the best part is we still have Monday free yaaay!!!!,Anyway I just want to share my weekend experience plus drop some health tips..So I decided to pay a visit to "the lover's" elder sister who just gave birth to a bouncing baby boy and on getting there,the mum was preparing a popular Eastern delicacy, Anambra area to be precise called "ofe onugbu" which means bitter leaf soup I'm an average cook but I can't cook bitter leaf soup to save my life sha so this was my chance to learn it knowing one day I'll be cooking it for her son God willing lol,i even learnt how to prepare 'Goat Head' popularly known as 'isiewu' lol, both meals came out tasty,she's such a great cook,i had to my satisfaction both delicacies.When I got home I decided to google the health benefits of bitter leaf soup because most of the time we (me inclusive) eat a lot of stuffs without knowing their health benefits,I found out these few benefits:
Bitter leaf is rich in vitamins A,C,E,B1/B2.
Bitter leaf speeds up our metabolism which is good for weight loss.
Bitter leaf cures mild stomach ailments.
Its also said to soothe and cure pile.
Bitter leaf reduces high sugar level in the blood etc...
wow I didn't know all this,I guess same with some of you  so what are you waiting for??make it a point of duty to put bitter leaf soup at least once a week in your menu. As for the goat head,i prefer it to beef because it contains little or no fatty content.
My Sunday was also fun,the best part about Sunday ,asides being in the presence of the Lord is the 'Sunday Rice what's your preference? Is it Rice/Stew,Jollof Rice,Coconut Rice, Chinese Rice or Fried Rice??whichever it is just try using banana ,plantain or vegetable salad without cream to go with it,I prefer using banana though,i also had a glass of freshly  blended cucumber+orange +ginger juice. It was a healthy weekend after all lol..we should try as much as possible to take care of our health because its one of our greatest assets.. feel free to also share how your weekend was spent and what you learnt from it..
